Amal joins the team

27th May 2024

Amal Purushu has joined the Marex team as a junior risk engineer.

Amal gained his Masters in safety and reliability engineering from the University of Aberdeen in November last year, completing his thesis in LNG storage hazards in collaboration with BP.

Prior to this, he had worked in India as a graduate safety engineer trainee with Bharat Petroleum Ltd after completing his degree in safety and fire engineering there.

Managing director Wayne Henderson said: “We were really impressed by Amal’s experience and his rigorous and conscientious approach to his work.

“At Marex, we believe our clients benefit from Marex integrity and diversity of thought and how we can make compliance easier for them.

“We’re delighted to welcome Amal on board. His appointment grows the team at an exciting stage of the company’s journey as we pursue more international opportunities during the energy transition, creating a balanced business model.”

Amal said: “I am thrilled to embark on this new journey and contribute to the team's success.

“I’ve gained valuable experience in the field of safety engineering through my previous roles and my Masters helped me acquired a strong foundation in safety and risk management, including skills such as BowTie, HAZID (hazard identification) and hazard and operability (HAZOP) studies.

“Joining Marex means I can put these skills to use, effectively identifying and mitigating safety risks effectively, ensuring compliance and promoting a safe working environment for all our clients.”
