From large commercial ports to smaller municipal piers, Marex understands the risk and compliance within a port environment
The Port Marine Safety Code (PMSC) offers a national standard for port safety in the UK with the aim of enhancing the safety of those who use and work in ports, their ships, passengers, cargo and the environment.
Under the PMSC, port facility duty holders must make sure their organisation complies with the code and must report compliance with the code to the Maritime and Coastguard Agency every three years.
Marex provides “independent designated persons” to ports and harbours, who provide independent assurance on the operation of the marine safety management system (MSMS).
But people are involved in every aspect of work, which is why looking at the part that human factors play is so important.
The end result in helping to avoid accidents and ill health at work cannot be underestimated.
“We find Marex personnel have a professional, knowledgeable and approachable mindset, with regards to our operations and are always willing to deal with our requests and requirements. "
