Marex Marine and Safety Services (MMASS) is the trading name of Marex Marine Services Limited.

 The company has developed from modest beginnings in the early 1990s when the current Principal Consultant became involved in the authorship of Safety Cases for mobile units, on the basis of his experience as an offshore mariner, and the fact that he had written a book on the operation of supply vessels. From that point more consultants have been employed in order that any client operating offshore in the UK can call on a full range of services.  

 Marex Marine and Safety Services personnel support the activities of their clients by providing technical authorship, risk assessment and auditing services.

 In the area of technical authorship the company specialises in the compilation of Safety Cases for mobile units. In addition to the safety engineers essential for such work, the company also employs marine, engineering, quality and safety management specialists. In addition to the safety case itself the company writes Verification schemes, emergency response manuals and other supporting documents. MMASS carries out major hazard risk assessments in support of the safety case and risk assessments for other purposes. The processes used are intended to ensure that the results are meaningful, and the company is constantly refining its programmes to improve presentation and participation.

 Since the success of its business depends entirely on the quality of its products MMASS has adopted to principle of employing rather than contracting. As a result the employees can be combined into teams appropriate to the tasks being carried out. This approach produces consistently high quality results, which in itself ensures that the business will continue to expand as one satisfactory service leads to another.

 The Company mariners have also been employed in marine project support, vessel audits and client representation. A natural and parallel activity to the management planning and authoring of safety cases is the development of management systems and audit strategies and the carrying out of audits themselves. MMASS can field an experienced audit team in support of any requirement.

 As a natural progression from the implementation of the skills of the consultants, MMASS has developed a range of training services with particular emphasis on improving the knowledge of managers and supervisors in the areas of safety case legislation, marine operations and management systems.

 With the increasing requirements for formal safety and operating documents in other parts of the world, the Company can provide linguists capable of translating into the target languages offered and tutoring personnel destined for work overseas and requiring language skills. Interpreting services for business or training purposes can also be provided.
