Ballast Water Management Plans (BWMP)
The Ballast Water Management Convention will enter into force on the 8th September 2017.
The convention applies to all ships including semi-submersibles, floating platforms, FSUs and FPSOs. All ships will be required to carry out ballast water and sediment management and have onboard an approved BWMP and ballast water records. The IMO has also recognised that special provisions may be required for MODU's and Offshore Support Vessels.
MAREX ballast water management plans are written following the guidance found in IMO Resolution MEPC. 127(53) Annex 5.
We do not require a ship visit as we can perform all the work from our Aberdeen office. The plan is developed
in consultation with those who are responsible for the ballasting operations. Once reviewed by the vessel management we arrange for Class approval.
As a minimum, all our BWMP take into account:
- • Bending Moments
- • Shear Forces
- • Torsional Stresses
- • Stability Margins
- • Free Surface
- • Tank Venting
- • Draft
- • Propeller Immersion
- • Crew Safety
- • Weather Windows
